Dr. McCafferty
Dr. Alex McCafferty joined the team at Picayune Veterinary Clinic in 2023. At the age of eleven, Dr. Alex knew she wanted to be a veterinarian after getting her first horse. The love of animals continued to grow throughout the years while raising goats, chickens, and horses. Her family has been a strong support system and encouraged her to achieve her goals of becoming a veterinarian.
Originally from Sturgis, MS, Dr. Alex attended Mississippi State University and earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Animal and Dairy Sciences in 2018. She continued her education at Mississippi State University attending the College of Veterinary Medicine where she earned a Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine in 2023. She is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association, and she has professional interests in soft tissue surgery and dermatology.
At home, Dr. Alex has two dogs named Katie and Ollie; four cats named Goose, Gilly, Bubs, and Cheech; as well as horses, goats, and a sulcata tortoise named Sully. In her free time, she enjoys spending time outdoors and with her family.
